On January 20, the Government of Assam and the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea jointly hosted the “Advantage Assam 2.0: Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025” roadshow. Over 100 business leaders attended the event, where in-depth discussions were held on the diverse business opportunities and investment potential in Assam.
During the event, Himanta Biswa Sarma(pictured above), Chief Minister of Assam, introduced the state’s key business and investment opportunities. Representatives from Tata Group, one of India’s largest conglomerates, shared their business experiences in Assam, drawing significant interest from attendees. Amit Kumar, the Indian Ambassador to South Korea, also attended and delivered a welcome address.
Through this roadshow, Assam highlighted its business opportunities in various sectors, including infrastructure development, semiconductor industry, renewable energy, green industries, and tourism. Participants had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, where they discussed Assam’s business and global strategies and explored potential collaborations with the state.
-Assam is located in the northeastern part of India and spans an area of 78,438 km² (30,285 square miles). It is the second-largest state in the northeastern region by area and the largest by population, with over 31 million residents.
Assam is internationally renowned for being the primary producer of Assam tea and Assam silk. The region also holds historical significance as the site of Asia’s first oil drilling operation. Recently, Assam has garnered attention with the news that Tata Electronics plans to build an advanced eco-friendly semiconductor assembly and testing facility in the town of Jagiroad, further boosting the state’s industrial profile.
