The domestic violence trial for New England Patriots player Jabrill Peppers was delayed on Wednesday morning due to a water main break at Quincy District Court and Quincy Juvenile Court.

The break happened around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, according to the Quincy Police Department.

As of Wednesday morning, the parking lot of the courts was the affected area from the break, police said. No traffic on the roads was affected.

A spokesperson from the courts stated the courts were “temporarily” closed, while Quincy Police said the courts were “closed for the day.” No information on the status of the repair was immediately available.

Water mains for those Quincy courts are private, police said, meaning the courthouses are responsible for their repairs.

The break comes after Peppers was expected to face a jury in a Quincy courtroom this week on domestic violence charges tied to an October incident, where a woman accused him of hitting her and throwing her down a flight of stairs.

Peppers was a captain on the team earlier this year. When he returned from a suspension related to his arrest, Peppers’ jersey was missing the “C” patch designating him as a captain. Although, former Patriots coach Jerod Mayo declined to comment.

Peppers faces three felony charges: assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation or suffocation and assault and battery on a household member. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of a Class B drug after police said they found cocaine in his wallet.
