With tourism consumption close to 200 billion euros per year, representing more than 7% of GDP, the tourism sector constitutes a flagship in the French economy which generates nearly 2 million direct and indirect jobs overall. of the territory. Overseas countries are not left out since the tourism sector generated more than 2 billion euros in revenue in 2022, when we had just emerged from the health crisis linked to Covid19.
However, despite this dynamic, in France and overseas, the sector is struggling to recruit, with tourism professions being perceived, rightly or wrongly, as difficult, low-skilled, precarious or short-term jobs. . It is this difficulty of recruitment in a sector that is nevertheless flourishing and fundamental for the economy in France and overseas, which led the government to initiate the Tourism Careers Week two years ago with the ambition of promote all tourism professions.
An event labeling campaign open until March 10, 2025
Thus, through the organization of events throughout the territory, Tourism Careers Week allows the general public, and particularly young people and job seekers, to discover the great diversity of professions and training linked to this sector as well as the numerous career and development opportunities.
For this 3th edition of Tourism Careers Week which will take place from March 17 to 23, 2025, the event labeling campaign was launched by Nathalie Delattre, Minister Delegate in charge of Tourism and the General Directorate of Enterprises (DGE) which is piloting this operation. A labeling campaign open to all public and private stakeholders in the tourism ecosystem (companies, federations, associations, training establishments, institutions) until March 10, 2025.
Four criteria necessary to obtain the label
-Remember that four conditions must be met to obtain this label: interested economic and social actors must organize events concerning the tourism sector (accommodation, catering, transport, travel, culture, events sectors). , leisure activities, sports tourism, etc.). These events must take place in France between February 24 and March 30, 2025 for France, with an extension until April 27, 2025 for overseas. They must also be open to the general public and, ultimately, be free for participants.
The proposed events will be geo-localizable using an interactive map and the organizers of labeled events will receive a communication kit consisting of posters allowing them to promote their mobilization on their communication media. During the 2024 edition of Tourism Careers Week, 2,300 events were certified, including just over 70 in overseas territories. Events which have enabled significant progress in terms of human resources.
