Real Madrid will face its modest local rival, Leganes, while Barcelona will be a guest of Valencia in the quarter-finals of the Spanish King’s Cup after the draw was drawn on Monday.
Atletico Madrid will host Getafe in another match in the Spanish capital, while Real Sociedad will meet Osasuna. The matches will be held between the fourth and sixth of next February.
The draw left the opportunity available to hold a summit match between the two rivals, Real Madrid and Barcelona, in the cup final, something that has not happened for more than a decade.
-Real Madrid and Barcelona met in the Spanish King’s Cup final 18 times, and Real Madrid prevailed in 11 matches, while the Catalan club achieved seven victories, including their last confrontation, in the 2014 final in Valencia.
However, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid in two matches this season, as it achieved a 4-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu in the league last October and won 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia last week.
