Nevers is being transformed: a pedestrian, modern and peaceful city center

A new era is dawning for the heart of the city of Nevers! From January 20, 2025, Place Mancini and the south of Rue François-Mitterrand will be entirely dedicated to pedestrians. This fourth phase of an ambitious redevelopment project marks a decisive turning point for the city which is reinventing itself by offering a more pleasant and environmentally friendly living environment.

From now on, from San Sebastian Square to the rue de l’Oratoirestrolling, shopping or simply enjoying a moment of relaxation will be a pleasure. There 4ᵉ phase works of redevelopmentwhich starts on January 20 2025, redesign it shopping heart for one urban setting at once modern et environmentally friendly :

Innovative coatings: green paving stones, green pavements and deactivated concrete beautify the main streets.
Connected urban furniture: public Wi-Fi terminals and sound system for a unique city experience.
Sublimated lighting: enhancement of historic facades for a warm atmosphere.

It's time for the pedestrian area…

To guarantee the safety and comfort of all, traffic has been redesigned. Motorized vehicles are prohibited, unless exempted, and local residents and traders benefit from regulated access thanks to a Pass system.

The new rules:

Yield Here To Peds : motorized vehicles are prohibited.
Gentle circulation : bicycles and scooters must be pushed.
Regulated access : only emergency vehicles, local residents and delivery people are authorized in specific slots. Local residents will be able to obtain an Access Pass from the first quarter of 2025.
