Union continues its unbeaten run with a narrow 1-0 win against underage OH Leuven

Fedde Leysen provided the first threat after two minutes with a header into the hands of brother Tobe. The OHL goalie turned out to be the leader of the crowd ten minutes later with a penalty violation: Leysen took too much time to kick the ball away and unfortunately brought down the oncoming Promise David. The Canadian then converted the penalty himself: 1-0 for the people of Brussels. Franjo Ivanovic had made it 2-0 just before half time, but the Croat, after a good cross from El Hadji, aimed within the reach of Leysen, who kept the visitors straight.

Even in the second half, OH Leuven was unable to embarrass the Brussels defense. El Hadj immediately had a good chance to double the score, but headed a good cross from Khalaili narrowly wide. His replacement Kamiel Van De Perre also did not get the ball past Leysen after a good cutting movement. At the end of the game, the Leuven goalkeeper had to intervene again on an attempt by Ivanovic. The visitors still had to finish the final phase with ten of them after Kurucay was sent off for kicking and were no longer entitled to an equalizer.

Thanks to the victory, Union (37 points) once again jumps over Anderlecht to third place in the rankings. OH Leuven (25 pts.) is currently just above the danger zone in twelfth place.
