AS FAR assistant coach Jamil Benouahi aims to keep the winning spirit in the Moroccan team ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns clash.
AS FAR surprised a lot of football supporters in Africa after qualifying for the quarter-final before Mamelodi Sundowns or Raja Club Athletic.
The Moroccan side qualified for the knockouts without losing a single game, winning two, and drawing three of their five games so far.
Benouahi, who took over media duties for head coach Hubert Velud, made it clear that his side want to maintain the winning mentality in the team, but also admitted Sundowns are being loved their own winning mentality.
“We are here to win this game, to stay in this winning mentality, that’s the most important for us,” Benouahi told the media.
“In this group stage, we played like one game away [outside of Morocco]. And we need this experience. And the best experience we can have is to play Mamelodi Sundowns here away from our country, it’s going to be a big experience for the next stage.

-“That’s also one of the very important points that we are seeking for and talking about Sundowns.
“I think that everyone knows Sundowns here, and we know how this team plays always to win. That’s the aim of this, and that’s why people love this team, even in Morocco, people like this thing when they say it’s playing, and we know they’re gonna do everything to win.
“So I think we’re gonna play a beautiful game between two big teams, big clubs in Africa. And I’m sure that we’re gonna say a great game as well.
“And at the end, we’re gonna have two big teams winning or losing or drawing, two we gonna have two big teams.”
AS FAR will stay atop of Group B with a win or draw, while Sundowns could top the group if they beat the Moroccan side later today.
