Like every year on January 1st, an annual civilian promotion crowns many people from the Legion of Honor. Discover the lucky winners of this 2025 edition.
482 people will receive the Legion of Honor on Saturday January 18, and will be added to the 79,000 members already rewarded. It was the Official Journal which revealed the list of people concerned. Among them, we find former ministers such as Amélie Oudéa-Castera, former Minister of Sports and Education, Marlène Schiappa, who held the position of Minister Delegate in charge of Citizenship, the former Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt, the former Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak or even Clément Beaune, former Minister of Transport.
Several personalities will also receive the highest French distinction. This includes actresses Camille Cottin, mistress of ceremonies of the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, and Mélanie Thierry, winner of the César for Most Promising Actress in 2010. Étienne Daho adds a new string to his bow after being decorated with the titles of Knight of the National Order of Merit in 2001 and Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2022. The breathtaking Vendée Globe champion, Charlie Dalin, will also be crowned.
A special promotion for Notre-Dame
Beyond the supreme title, 1,119 people will obtain the National Order of Merit, including 917 knights. The journalist Marie Drucker, the actress Audrey Fleurot and the creator of the Too Good To Go application, Lucie Basch, are concerned.
-In order to reward the 101 people who contributed to the reconstruction of Notre-Dame de Paris, the Grand Chancellery of the Legion of Honor indicates that a special promotion is planned for them. Philippe Jost, head of the public establishment responsible for the cathedral restoration project, is distinguished as a commander within the Legion of Honor. Thirty-three of them will be made knights of the Legion of Honor and sixty-seven will receive the National Order of Merit.
