Due to a breakdown, a BMW came to a standstill on the Limmat viaduct of the A1 near Wettingen early on Friday morning, as the Aargau cantonal police wrote in their statement. The car then stood unlit on the narrow hard shoulder and protruded slightly into the road. An approaching truck driver noticed the obstacle too late and crashed into it with full force.
Fortunately, the four occupants were outside the car at the time of impact and were uninjured. All that remained of the BMW, which was thrown onto the road, was a demolished wreck. The truck was also badly damaged.
-As a result of the accident, two of the three lanes in the direction of Zurich were blocked. As rush hour traffic began, a backlog immediately formed and grew to a length of up to eight kilometers. The scene of the accident was cleared by 7:30 a.m. The traffic situation has now returned to normal. (luk)
