Young student says recess is worth missing for Big Brother program

ABILENE, Texas — The Big Brothers and Big Sisters program provides mentors for elementary school students around the country.

For one Abilene TLCA Elementary student, playing Uno with his “big” is worth the opportunity cost.

“(The mentorship) happens when our recess starts,” Josiah Fisk said. “So instead of having recess, that happens. But it’s worth missing recess to do that stuff.”

Josiah said he hasn’t beaten his “big” in Uno. The fifth-grader also said his favorite show is Drake & Josh and his favorite video game is Fortnite.
