The truce agreement in Gaza is finally finalized. The Israeli government announced that a meeting will be held this Friday, January 17 to approve the ceasefire from Sunday with the exchange of Palestinian prisoners for hostages.
Benjamin Netanyahu's office indicated on Thursday that the Islamist group was slowing down the latest negotiations by calling into question “certain points”. Thanks to this green light, humanitarian aid will finally be able to return to Gaza, with 600 to 1,000 trucks. The first will be loaded with gasoline to power the hospital generators, particularly that of Nasser which is badly damaged.
“This hospital, which is the largest in the Gaza Strip and still available, has buildings that are damaged. We are working as best we can by overloading the beds. We have people in the hallways. There is no way to provide quality medicine in Gaza today,” explained Amande Bazerolle, emergency coordinator for Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Gaza, speaking to RTL.
She also emphasized that “everything has to be rebuilt”. “We have to start from scratch. It’s unimaginable to quantify the time it could take and the resources that will have to be put in. The question is: who will provide these means?“, she worried.
