A few meters after the halfway line, Arp shot the ball into the Dortmund goal to make the final score 4-2 for Holstein against the big favorites from Dortmund.
It was the highlight of a courageous performance by the newly promoted team and the low point of a very weak performance by BVB. Nuri Sahin’s team delivered a disgraceful performance, especially in the first half. For Sahin it was the 25th competitive game as head coach of BVB. “It’s shameful how we performed, from the first to the last minute. Borussia Dortmund is not worthy of that,” said Sahin. The 36-year-old was only able to win twelve of the 25 games. The pressure on him will grow in the coming days, although BVB managing director Lars Ricken demonstratively supported him after the embarrassment.
