The 40-year-old skipper Charlie Dalin triumphed during this 10th edition of the Vendée Globe by establishing the new reference time for the race. When receiving his trophy he could not contain his emotion.
He will remember this day all his life. Second by nothing in 2021, Frenchman Charlie Dalin (Macif) won the 10th Vendée Globe this Tuesday in Sables-d'Olonne, establishing the new reference time for the solo round-the-world race in 64 days. 19 hours 22 minutes and 49 seconds.
Since his arrival on land, the 40-year-old French skipper has experienced a day full of emotion. And Charlie Dalin, smiling until then as he lifted his trophy, bursting into tears. A trophy which had escaped him four years ago in unfortunate circumstances and which symbolizes his triumph in his eyes.
