This Tuesday, January 14, Free lifted the veil on a new Freebox. This, simply called Freebox Pro, takes over from… the Freebox Pro, launched in 2021. In addition to its name, it also takes over its main target: businesses. Let's see what this 2025 version contains.

Ever higher performance
First of all, the onboard wifi chip goes from 6E to 7, in quad-band with notably a 6 GHz frequency. Enough to make the most of its symmetrical speeds of 8 Gbits/s on up to 100 devices. In this Freebox Pro 2025, a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor and 4 GB of RAM are responsible for powering the Free solution. 1TB of local storage on an NVMe drive is also there, complemented by 200GB of included cloud space and a redundant data backup system. It is also possible to connect other disks.
In a context where electricity is ever more expensive, Free points out that its new solution consumes 40% less energy. Two new standby modes are also integrated. One puts the box completely on standby when desired (at night, for example), and the other deactivates wifi 7 when no one is using it.
Two landline telephone lines can be used with this Freebox Pro. In terms of connectivity, it changes only slightly compared to the previous version: four 2.5 Gbits/s Ethernet ports (including a PoE port), a USB 3.0 port, an SFP+ 10G LAN port and a USB-C port for food.
Available, at the same price
The new Freebox Pro is already available. Despite its revised characteristics, the price remains the same as for the previous version: €40 per month for one year, then €50 per month. Everything is always without obligation. Up to 3 wifi 7 repeaters can be added as an option.
