Jannik Sinner is in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open, the Slam in which he will defend the title obtained in 2024. The ATP world number 1 began with a success in three sets against the Chilean Nicolas Jarry, number 34, 7-6( 2) 7-6(5) 6-1. His success in the second tie-break was fundamental, where the situation had become complicated and saw him ahead 6-3 and two serves but he lost both points played while still managing to avoid further trouble by getting the set on the third opportunity. The immediate break at the start of the next half broke the existing balance and the blue team spread.

As for the other Azzurri on the pitch today, the news is that it will not be Fabio Fognini who will play against Grigor Dimitro but Francesco Passaro who comes in as a lucky loser after the Ligurian’s forfeit.
