ATP Australian Open 1/64-Finals

Goffin – Bonzi: 13/01/2025 06:00 CEST
H2H: 3-0

David Goffin has lost four straight matches. His last win was last year in October when he defeated Humbert in the 1/8-Finals of the ATP Basel. So far this season, David has played two preparation tournaments. In his opening match of the season, Goffin lost against Vukic in the opening round of the ATP Brisbane. In Adelaide’s first round, David lost against Hijikata in straight sets this week. Last year, Goffin successfully qualified for the main draw tournament. David lost against Humbert in four sets in the opening main draw round.

Benjamin Bonzi has won three of his last five matches. This week in Adelaide, Bonzi reached the quarterfinals, losing against Kecmanovic in straight sets as we predicted. The Frenchman played in Brisbane a week before, where he reached the 1/8-Finals, losing against Jarry in straight sets. His best result here in Melbourne happened in 2023, when he reached the third round, losing against de Minaur in straight sets. Last year, Bonzi lost in the opening round of the Australian Open against Musetti in four sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Bonzi is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Goffin is in terrible form and has not played many matches this season. On the other hand, Bonzi has had a couple of solid matches this season already, and we expect him to be fully confident coming into this match.

That being said, Bonzi covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Benjamin Bonzi -4.5 games handicap @1.91 @bet365

Djokovic – Basavareddy: 13.01.2025 09:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Novak Djokovic has won three of his last five matches. So far this season, Novak has played only one preparation tournament. Last week in Brisbane, Djokovic reached the quarterfinals, losing against Opelka in straight sets. Last season, Novak won the gold medal in the Olympic Games, the only achievement he needed to complete his great career. However, he underperformed at the Grand Slam events. Novak turns 38 this year, and we believe he will no longer win any Grand Slam titles. Last year in Melbourne, Djokovic lost in the semifinals against Sinner in four sets.

Nishesh Basavareddy has won four of his last five matches. This week in Auckland, Nishesh reached the semifinals as a qualifier, losing against Monfils in straight sets as we predicted. In his first tournament of the season, Nishesh lost in the opening main draw round against Monfils in straight sets. Nishesh turned pro last season and has been granted a wild card here in the Australian Open.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Djokovic is the huge favorite in this matchup, and we partially agree. Novak tends to start slow in Grand Slam tournaments, especially now that he has not played many competitive matches this season. We believe Basavareddy will win at least one set and keep this match tight.

That being said, Basavareddy winning at least one set is a value bet.
