The Philadelphia Flyers made a major announcement on Monday. They partnered with the NBA’s 76ers to build a new “world-class” amphitheater south of the city.
The Comcast Spectator company, which owns the Flyers, and the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment group, owner of the 76ers, have thus found common ground.
However, the Flyers have just injected $400 million into the Wells Fargo Center for renovations which were completed last summer. However, these funds came from private investments, said journalist Frank Seravalli, responding to Internet users on X.
This is a significant turnaround, as the 76ers have been eyeing a move downtown for some time.
The Wells Fargo Center has served as the Flyers’ home since 1996, but it has changed names often since then; It was known to hockey fans as the Wachovia Center. It replaced the Spectrum.
