Thanks to his goal in Sunday’s final of the Spanish Super Cup (the match is ongoing – report HERE), Robert Lewandowski is equal to Julio Salinas and Xavi in terms of goals scored for Barcelona. These legendary players also scored 85 goals for the Pride of Catalonia.
However, “Lewy” beats these club icons in terms of average goals per match. He needed only 122 appearances to score 85 goals, which is 0.69 goals per match. Xavi (0.11) achieved his goalscoring achievements in 767 matches, and Salinas – in 215 (0.40).
Xavi is a midfielder, but he was considered one of the best strikers in Europe when he played at Camp Nou in Salinas in the years 1988-94. He was an important link in Johan Cruyff’s “Dream Team” in the first years of this iconic team. In this context, Lewandowski’s achievement has its meaning.

What is truly impressive, however, is the pace at which the Pole is climbing the all-time goalscoring list. When the current season started in August, Lewandowski was only 44th on the list with 59 goals. Today he has 85 goals and is already 25. In the 21st century, only Uruguayan Luis Suarez has achieved such achievements faster than him.
-“Lewy” already looks down on such football legends as Sandor Kocsis (82), Luis Suarez (80), Quini (74), Johan Cruyff (60), Michael Laudrup (54), Gary Lineker (51), Thierry Henry ( 49), David Villa (48), Ronaldo (47), Hans Krankl (45), Luis Figo (45), Romario (39) and Diego Maradona (38).
In his sight and at his fingertips, “Lewy” has Ronald Koeman (86), Bernd Schuster (89), Jose Mari Bakero (94), Ronaldinho (94) and Pedro (99). The captain of the Polish national team is on track to break the mark of 100 goals for the Pride of Catalonia this season (only his third in the capital of Catalonia).
The 36-year-old scores an average of 0.96 goals per match, and Hansi Flick’s team still has at least 25 games left to play. Therefore, at the end of the competition, “Lewy” may have scored 109 goals for the Pride of Catalonia. And this is the minimum plan, because if Barcelona reaches the finals of the Champions League and the King’s Cup, Lewandowski will have 34 more opportunities to increase his achievements.
