The synopsis of the series
At the heart of the plot, we follow Nikki Batista, played by Dania Ramirez, a police officer whose life is turned upside down following the disappearance of her son. Six years after this tragedy, her ex-husband Jason Grant, played by Scott Caan, reappears with a photograph suggesting that their child is still alive.
This shocking revelation propels the duo on a personal quest, while continuing their mission within the MPU: to locate missing people before it is too late.
Inspiration born from personal experience
The idea for “ALERT” was born in the mind of Jamie Foxx, creator and executive producer of the series, following a family mishap. Fascinated by the work of investigators specializing in disappearances, Foxx wanted to explore this theme through captivating fiction.
Although the cases dealt with in the series are not directly inspired by real events, they draw their essence from current events and contemporary societal issues. For example, the second episode, entitled “Hugo”, addresses the Fentanyl crisis, a scourge currently ravaging the United States.
