Rita Pavone, one of the greatest Italian and international artists, 60 years of an incredible career that began at just 17 years old which took her to the top of the Italian and international charts, obtaining enthusiastic reviews in the largest newspapers in the world, will be released on February 23rd bookstore with her book “Gemma and the others”. A work that was born, says the artist (to her credit a total of over 50 million records sold worldwide) from a fundamental album in the history of Rita Pavone: the women protagonists of those songs become the unforgettable characters of this volume.
“It will seem strange, or at least unusual, to write a book starting from a record released 35 years ago. However, a decisive record for me. A concept album, which few knew, and perhaps few still know. An album where I, for the first time, in addition to acting as executive producer of the entire project – the music is by Carolain -, I am the author of the lyrics in which I chose to look at the female universe, in all its nuances and meanings. Including that of different loves. And this happened in unsuspecting times. Now it is all too easy to talk about something that was instead considered inadmissible, unacceptable, unacceptable by society, there are the true stories of some women lives, scattered among joys, pains and regrets, took me by the hand, involving me to the point of wanting to put their feelings, their inner anger, their pride or decadent weakness, even into music”.
“Gemma and the others”, the artist still recalls, “was published way back in 1989. It was magnificently reviewed by many music critics, but, due to the topics covered, it suffered a deliberate indifference on the part of radio and TV. But time he is a gentleman and today, suddenly, this album re-emerges, with great and unexpected strength. “Gemma e le altre” is the album that I am constantly asked and talked about during interviews. So I asked myself: why not put the stories of this album, the stories of these women in a book?”.
