Four years after Yannick Bestaven’s victory, the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe started on Sunday November 10, 2024 from Les Sables d’Olonne. After an intense battle between Charlie Dalin and Yoann Richomme for several weeks, the first named seems to have the upper hand and is heading towards the finish line with a lead that is becoming more comfortable. According to predictions, Charlie Dalin should cross the finish line on the 14th in the evening or the 15th. Yoann Richomme should follow a few hours later so the rest of the regatta will arrive gradually. As a reminder, the Vendée Globe record is held by Armel Le Cléac’h, who completed the race in 74 days 3 hours 35 minutes and 46 seconds in 2017. A record which was established due to the “mild” conditions, notably to the Cape of the Equator. Here is the real-time map of the Vendée Globe to follow the race live.

The Vendée Globe route

In total, 45,000 kilometers are on the program with 24,300 nautical miles of theoretical distance passing through three capes: Bonne Espérance, Leeuwin and Horn, all, non-stop and without assistance.
