Bundesliga: This is how the first football weekend goes

After the short Christmas break, the Bundesliga is back next weekend with matchday 16. And how!

The first football weekend of 2025 is definitely something special. It starts on Friday evening with the cracker Borussia Dortmund against champions Bayer Leverkusen – and that too on free ! Sat 1 will broadcast LIVE from 8.30 p.m.

FC Bayern Munich’s first appearance of the new year will follow on Saturday evening. Vincent Kompany’s team faces old rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach. The league leaders are hoping for the comeback of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

However, not much has happened on the transfer market yet. So far only VfB Stuttgart and TSG Hoffenheim have strengthened. The Dane Jacob Bruun Larsen returns to BVB from Hoffenheim, while the Kraichgauer team dug deep into their pockets with nine million euros for striker Gift Orban.

However, like every year, the transfer window is open for the entire month of January. Accordingly, a lot will still happen.
