The low pressure system named Dikeledi is closely monitored by meteorologists. Dikeledi is expected to transit 140 km south of Mayotte during the day on Sunday. A deterioration of the weather situation is therefore expected with heavy rainfall from Saturday evening as well as winds and gusts of 90-100 km/h and a risk of marine submersion.
Taking into account all these elements, the prefect of Mayotte François Xavier Bieuville triggers the cyclone pre-alert in Mayotte from 9 a.m.
In conjunction with state services, communities and civil security actors, precautionary and prudent measures are implemented in the territory. For the population, the following measures should be followed:
- If you have outdoor outings planned this weekend (at sea or in the countryside) cancel them
- If you have pathologies requiring drug treatment, plan ahead;
- If you have kidney or respiratory failure, contact your usual healthcare facility immediately;
- Prepare lighting reserves;
- Ensure the availability of a reserve of water, non-perishable food and a first aid kit
- Go inside or fix obstacles and objects likely to constitute dangers or projectiles in the event of strong gusts of wind;
- Facilitate water drainage;
- If the location of your home requires it (seaside flood zone, steep slopes, edge of ravine, etc.) take all necessary precautions for your safety and the protection of your property.
A situation and information update for the population will be made soon, and will be available on social networks.
