Josh Allen doesn’t want to lose his offensive coordinator and he’s not above lying to keep him.
As the Buffalo Bills prepare to host the Denver Broncos on Super Wild Card Weekend, Allen met with the media. In addition to discussing the team’s opponent on Sunday, Buffalo’s star quarterback was asked about Joe Brady.
Brady, 35, has emerged as a popular candidate for head coaching vacancies across the league. Buffalo’s offensive coordinator has been requested for interviews by the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears.
“Nothing,” Allen smirked. “He hasn’t done anything for us. Teams should stay away from him.”
Allen’s response drew some laughs from the media before he went on to praise the team’s offensive coordinator.
-“He’s been fantastic,” Allen said seriously. “You know, coming into that situation last year… It’s not easy to switch play-callers midyear and he came in and from that day on, if you look at our splits, our success that we’ve had as a team it’s noticeable. He’s one of the most positive guys in the building. He’s always got juice and energy for the guys. I think that’s something that we love and appreciate about him. He’s as real as they come.”
It’s easy to see why Allen speaks so highly of Brady. Allen is the MVP favorite after a season that saw him play more efficiently than ever. Allen completed 63.3 percent of his passes in 2024 for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns and a career-low six interceptions. Allen would rush for 531 yards and another 12 scores on the ground on 102 carries. In addition to limiting his interceptions, Allen had just eight total turnovers–another career-low–under Brady.
Allen can help Brady’s star grow further with a long playoff run this season. That could mean losing Brady, but it’s a safe bet that a lot of offensive coaches would jump at the chance to call plays for Allen in 2025 and beyond.
