Snow and ice: two people died in the North, 20 minor injuries reported

Two people have died in connection with the bad weather currently affecting the north of , announced Bertrand Gaume, prefect of Hauts-de-France. One of them fell to her death on a sidewalk in (near ). Another, a homeless man, died of hypothermia in the region.

France’s borrowing rates are soaring, at their highest since 2011

The yield on ten-year French sovereign rates reached its highest since 2011, climbing to 3.40% this Thursday morning. This peak in tension occurs in the context of an overall increase in bond yields on the markets. The British ten-year rate peaked on Wednesday and sovereign bonds are also soaring in the United States this week.

Gabriel de Broglie, historian and academician, has died

Prince Gabriel de Broglie died at the age of 93. French jurist, historian as well as great defender of public broadcasting and the French language, he joined the Academy of Moral Sciences in 1997, then the French Academy in 2000. Prince de Broglie was the fifth immortal of his family to sit under the Dome.
