The Golden State Warriors are ending a six-game home-stand tonight, and hoping they can bounce back from Sunday’s disappointing loss to the Sacramento Kings. And they’ll do so against a Miami Heat team that has been the definition of mediocrity … with a touch of disfunction thrown in.
Neither team is at full health. Here’s the injury report for Tuesday’s showdown.
Warriors
Out — Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle sprain)
Kuminga suffered a bad sprain on Saturday and has been ruled out for at least three weeks. That’s a tough obstacle for the Dubs to overcome.
Out — Brandin Podziemski (right abdominal injury management)
Podz is nearing a return, but will miss his fifth consecutive game on Tuesday. Hopefully a return is around the corner.
Out — Gary Payton II (left calf strain)
This will be seven straight games missed for GPII, and the Dubs definitely could use his defense. Hopefully he’s able to get back on the court before long.
Heat
Out — Jimmy Butler (team suspension)
Butler requested a trade from the Heat and trashed them to the media and they subsequently suspended him, which will cost him millions of dollars. The kids have an expression for this. Something about doing something and finding out.
Out — Josh Richardson (right heel inflammation)
Richardson’s season has been derailed by injuries. He’s only played eight times this year, and hasn’t played in nearly two months.
Out — Dru Smith (left Achilles surgery)
Smith was playing some decent basketball this year, before injuring his Achilles a few days before Christmas. That will sadly keep him out for the rest of the year.
Questionable — Tyler Herro (left knee contusion)
Life gets a lot easier for Golden State’s defense if they don’t have to face Butler or Herro.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
