A collision took place this Tuesday, January 7 in Mayotte between a barge on board of which Marine Le Pen was and a barge arriving in the opposite direction. 10 people were injured according to the local press but not the leader of the National Rally (RN).
While the leader of the RN, Marine Le Pen, traveling to Mayotte was connecting Grande-Terre and Petite-Terre by barge this Tuesday, January 7 in the morning in order to reach the airport, an accident occurred.
This “minor” collision, Marine Le Pen’s entourage told BFMTV, took place with a barge coming in the opposite direction. The MP was not injured and was evacuated by a border police shuttle. However, ten people on board were injured, according to the local press.
“It was inevitable”
The barge “arrived very quickly, it was inevitable. The maneuver to turn was inevitably going to throw the bottom of the barge onto ours, it hit quite hard all the same”, reacted the former president of the RN to the channel Mayotte the 1st.
“We were lucky, many people were lucky in their misfortune,” added the MP, who specified that “the chief mechanic was injured” and that he had probably “broken one or two ribs or three for that matter.”
The barge, after having been checked, was able to return to the dock, again according to Marine Le Pen's entourage. This accident paralyzed the rotations of the barges for more than an hour, AFP journalists noted.
Saidali Boina Hamissi, departmental delegate of the RN, told BFMTV that he did not know “what happened”.
If “the vast majority of people found themselves on the ground, (Marine Le Pen) remained seated, clinging to her chair”, he adds.
Marine Le Pen, who was able to reach the airport as planned, arrived this Sunday January 5 in Mayotte to meet the victims of Cyclone Chido.
