LIVE! Without an ailing Musiala: FC Bayern is testing in Salzburg

FC Bayern Munich started the new calendar year with a clear friendly win at RB Salzburg. While Olise scored a brace, an 18-year-old also scored for the record champions.

Thomas Letsch, who was introduced as RB Salzburg's new head coach shortly before Christmas, celebrated his debut against the German record champions. In Salzburg's starting lineup for the first time: 19-year-old Diakité, whose appearance came about due to the illness-related absence of new signing and ex-Mainzer Onisiwo.

Meanwhile, coach Vincent Kompany had almost a full band for the Munich team. Compared to the 5-1 win against Leipzig, Upamecano (bench) and Musiala (ill) slipped out of the starting lineup. Dier and Müller began.

Kimmich serves Dier to lead the FCB

The guests demonstrated their individual class early on, and after just ten minutes the ball found its way into the opponents' net for the first time. In front of 26,107 spectators in the Red Bull Arena, Dier headed a pinpoint Kimmich corner from just under five meters.

Bavaria's dominance was not expected to change afterwards, as Kompany's men acted concentrated and seriously during the dress rehearsal before the league restart. This was also evident in the 24th minute when Müller stayed alert after Kane's powerful right-footed shot and scored from close range to make it 2-0. Just a little later, Olise appeared just as focused as the veteran, intercepting a pass from RB keeper Schlager and increasing it again from a tight angle (29th).

Lots of changes and three goals after the break

The teams ultimately came out of the break with a few changes – eleven at Salzburg, five at Munich. However, jokers should not be responsible for the next two FCB goals. Instead, it was only Olise who scored a brace after a pass from Laimer (48th), before Kimmich benefited from Gadou's deflection with his long-range shot (56th).

Shortly after the hour mark, Kompany also made a complete change by taking the remaining five field players and goalkeeper Peretz off the field. One of these new players – 18-year-old Asp Jensen – was finally able to celebrate his first goal with the professionals. The youngster, who had his first taste of Bundesliga action last May (0-2 against Wolfsburg), quickly directed Guerreiro's flat cross into the net (76').

So in the end there was a well-deserved test match success for FC Bayern, who probably wouldn't have complained about a little more resistance before the away game in Gladbach (Saturday, 6.30 p.m.). For Salzburg, which will test against Danish Midtjylland on January 15th, competitive play will not continue until January 22nd. Then coach Letsch and his new team will play in the Champions League against Spanish record champions Real Madrid (9 p.m.).
