Victor Wembanyama’s ever-improving performances charm San Antonio

This holiday season, Victor Wembanyama continues to light up San Antonio and shine on the courts of the NBA, the American National Association. After a promising first season (21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals), crowned with the title of Rookie of the Year, the French player, who will celebrate his 21st birthday on January 4, is still rising in the ranks. “It’s never going to be perfect, but I’m getting closer and closer to the best way to help the team,” said Wembanyama, known as “Wemby.”

Alongside the 2.24-meter French giant’s individual progress, the whole San Antonio Spurs team is also evolving in the right direction, offering greater depth to its performances. After a difficult season last year (60 losses in 82 games), they closed 2024 with 17 wins in 33 games this season, beating the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, December 31 (122-86, 27 points for Wembanyama).

Named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the first time on December 23 the former 92 player, from in the region, is a serious contender to make a first appearance at the All-Star Game selection (February 16 in San Francisco) and to win the award for the league’s best defender.
