The winter sales will start soon: everything you need to know about dates, stocks, promotions to expect and the impact of online sales

2. The right of exchange is not guaranteed, the right of withdrawal yes!

Do you buy an item on sale in a physical store, but regret it later? In this case, the store is not obliged to take back the product. If he does so, it is as a commercial gesture. Some stores allow it for products from the new collection, but not for products purchased at a reduced price. Pay attention to it! If you purchased a product online, the rules are different. You have at least 14 days to change your mind and return your product.

3. The reduction must always be calculated on the reference price

Stores must calculate their price reductions based on the “reference price“. The law defines it as the lowest price the store has charged in the last 30 days. So, as a consumer, you see the previous price next to the reduced price, so you know immediately how much you pay less.

The eyes, the hand or even the voice: we present to you all the payment methods of the future!

So be wary of “list prices” or “most often applied prices”.

4. Beware of fake online stores

Ordering from an unfamiliar website can involve risks. Scammers can create a fake online store, collect the money and disappear into thin air. To minimize risks, find the store’s contact details. The website must contain a physical address and business number.

5. Sales are not always the best time to get good deals

Even if a store grants a correctly calculated discount (see point 3), not all promotions are worth taking. Another store may offer a greater discount, or the product may be even cheaper at another time of year. So don’t buy on impulse, but compare prices carefully. You can do this on Rate My Deal, l’app and the site web of Test-Achats which tell you in which store a product is the cheapest. You will also find the price evolution there, which will allow you to check if it is really the best time to buy.
