Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has suggested that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) may be potential culprits behind the recent fire outbreak at Kantamanto in Accra.
During an Instagram Live session on Thursday, January 2, 2025, Gyan shared his thoughts on the devastating fire, among other issues. He speculated that both political parties might have motives for orchestrating such an incident.
“What is going on? It can be NPP or NDC. The NPP can burn the place to irritate the people, whilst the NDC could use the fire as a secret plan to clear the space for a project,” he said.
Gyan further suggested that the NDC might cause the fire to extort money from the state for reconstruction, while the NPP could start the fire and shift the blame onto the NDC.
“I’m not taking sides because I don’t want to be used again. So, when I’m talking, I’m talking. I don’t take anyone’s side,” he added.
The fire at Kantamanto occurred on Thursday early morning, January 2, 2025, at around 1:00 am, causing significant damage.
Over 100 shops were destroyed in the blaze, leaving traders devastated.
