The Mankoo Mucc movement welcomed the decision to dismiss Cheikh Oumar Diagne, former director of General Resources at the Presidency of the Republic. This decision follows a controversy triggered by controversial remarks made by Mr. Diagne on the Senegalese riflemen, during an interview given to a private channel.
The controversy led Mankoo Mucc to launch a petition demanding his dismissal and a ban on him holding any public office. With more than 1,000 signatures collected, the movement succeeded in mobilizing outraged public opinion.
Proud of this decision, the president of Mankoo Mucc, Babacar Gaye, expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, for having responded favorably to this request. “It is an act of high republican significance that we welcome,” declared Babacar Gaye.
Mankoo Mucc, however, affirmed that he would not stop with this victory. The movement reiterated its commitment to defending republican values and preserving the sacredness of institutions. “We will remain vigilant and warn anyone who adopts similar behavior,” he warned.
The release of the ex-inmate who shared the same cell as President Diomaye caused great emotion in Senegal. The head of state’s decision to dismiss him marks a new stage in the debate on governance and ethics in politics.
