The couple from Brittany and Lyon had decided to celebrate New Year's Eve, quietly, at their home in Métairies, a town near Jarnac. “We both planned an evening without the kids, we finished eating, I was having contractions, we managed at home as long as I felt it was manageable and then at one point, I told him : 'I think I have to go.'” The couple arrived a little after 2 a.m. at the maternity ward of Cognac hospital, in Châteaubernard.
