Three weeks before their arrival in to play two matches against the Indiana Pacers, the San Antonio Spurs ended 2024 in thunderous fashion by crushing, for New Year's Eve, the Los Angeles Clippers (122-86) of Nicolas Batum. Not content with ending the year with a positive result (17W, 16D), the Texans also put on a show.

As evidenced by the interception of leader Chris Paul, two minutes before the break with already almost 20 points in advance. The former passer of the… Clippers steals the ball at the entrance to his own racket in the hands of an Angelenos. He goes straight to score an easy basket on a double step at the other end of the field. Quiet and easy. But no: Victor Wembanyama, who set off like a rocket, follows him. At the end of his action, Chris Paul places the ball on the board and Wemby slams it in the next second and signs an angry dunk while remaining hanging on the hoop.

At the start of the match, Wemby had already been at the conclusion of a spectacular action, a “one-two” with Jeremy Sochan for an alley-oop which brought the Frost Bank Center to its feet.

These actions show two things: the perfect understanding between the stars of the Spurs and the rise in power of a Texan team which increasingly has the means to aim for participation in the play-ins, or even the playoffs, in 2025. And in a few days, they will do the show in Paris.
