The regional office of the Democratic Confederation of Labor in Mohammedia called for participation in the Casablanca-Settat regional protest march, scheduled to start at 10 am on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in front of the union headquarters in Derb Omar in Casablanca.
The statement, a copy of which was obtained by TelQuel Arabi, stated that this march comes as an expression of rejection of the continued rise in prices, which has led to a deterioration in purchasing power, in addition to the abolition of the clearing fund and the liberalization of prices in favor of the lobbies controlling the markets.
The statement indicated that this also comes in protest against the insistence on violating the constitutional right to strike, restricting union freedoms, and legitimizing further exploitation of the working class.
The same source reported that the government’s renunciation of its obligations in social dialogue, and its evasion of negotiating the just and legitimate demands of workers and employees, represent part of this situation.
He also pointed to the forced merger of CNOPS and CNSS, the devastating reforms of the pension system and the Labor Code, as well as the encouragement of flexibility and precarity in the labor market.
He mentioned the closure of large and small companies, the displacement of workers, and the increase in unemployment and layoff rates, at a time when the authorities are watching major violations of the law.
