The new year will kick off with multiple new TV series premiering across a variety of networks to help keep you entertained in the beginning of 2025.
From a comedy about an army colonel, to a retelling of one of the biggest terrorist attacks and a modern spin on “Sherlock Holmes,” here are eight TV series premiering in January 2025.

‘Missing You’
Premiere date: Jan. 1
Network: Netflix
It’s been 11 years since Detective Kat Donovan’s (Rosalind Eleazar) fiancé, Josh (Ashley Walters), mysteriously disappeared. But when she’s swiping on dating apps one day, his face pops up on one of the profiles, turning her life upside down.
“Josh’s reappearance forces her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past,” according to Netflix.
‘Going Dutch’
Premiere date: Jan. 2
Network: Fox
As a punishment, arrogant loudmouth Colonel Patrick Quinn (Denis Leary) is reassigned to a command position in the Netherlands and the least important U.S. army base in the world.
After serving in multiple war zones, he now leads a base which has no tactical purpose or weapons, but does have incredible food and a bowling alley.
“Surrounded by a group of military misfits, the colonel tries to reinstate discipline and professionalism with the help of the base’s previous interim leader, who happens to be his estranged daughter (Taylor Misiak),“ according to Deadline.
‘Lockerbie: A Search for Truth’
Premiere date: Jan. 2
Network: Peacock
This series is a dramatic retelling of the events after the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. The incident killed 259 crew members and passengers as well as 11 residents of the town of Lockerbie, Scotland, where the plane crashed.
Spanning three decades, the series follows Dr. Jim Swire (Colin Firth) whose daughter died in the bombing.
“Swire risks everything as he mounts a decades-long campaign to find out the truth behind the disaster and seeks justice for those that lost their lives,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
‘Doc’
Premiere date: Jan. 7
Network: Fox
Dr. Amy Larsen (Molly Parker), Chief of Internal Medicine at a hospital in Minneapolis, suffers from a traumatic brain injury after a car accident which causes her to forget the last eight years of her life.
“Amy must navigate an unfamiliar world where she has no recollection of patients she’s treated, colleagues she’s crossed, the man she loves, or the tragedy that caused her to push everyone away,” per Deadline.
Dr. Larsen relies on her estranged teenage daughter and a few friends as she continues to practice medicine after losing almost a decade of knowledge.
‘Shifting Gears’
Premiere date: Jan. 8
Network: ABC
Tim Allen stars in “Shifting Gears” as Matt, “the stubborn, widowed owner of Parker Customs, a classic car restoration shop,” per Deadline.
One day, Matt’s estranged daughter (Kat Dennings) moves into his house with her two kids, turning his life upside down.
‘On Call’
Premiere date: Jan. 9
Network: Amazon Prime Video
This new police procedural from Prime Video follows a veteran officer (Troian Bellisario) and her rookie (Brandon Larracuente) as they work as patrol officers in Long Beach, California.
“Incorporating a mixture of bodycam, dash-camera, and cellphone footage to create a cinema verité effect, the innovative series explores the morality of protecting and serving a community,” per Variety.
‘The Pitt’
Premiere date: Jan. 9
Network: Max
Over 15 episodes, “The Pitt” will follow one 15-hour ER shift in real time.
“‘The Pitt’ is a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh,” per Deadline.
The series focuses on Dr. Michael Robinavitch, played by Noah Wyle, who leads the shift spotlighted by the series.
‘Prime Target’
Premiere date: Jan. 22
Network: Apple TV+
Leo Woodall stars as math genius Edward Brooks, who is on the brink of a major computational breakthrough.
When he finds out people are out to destroy his idea, he teams up with Taylah Sanders (Quintessa Swindell), the NSA agent assigned to watch him. Together the two discover that Brooks is in the middle of a major conspiracy.
‘Watson’
Premiere date: Jan. 26
Network: CBS
“Watson” is a modern day spin on the story of Sherlock Holmes, following Holmes’ sidekick Dr. Watson, played by Morris Chestnut.
After Holmes dies at the hand of Moriarty, Watson opens a new medical clinic specializing in rare diseases and medical mysteries.
