INTERVIEW – Placed at the head of the largest city in Mayotte (92,000 inhabitants), the elected member of the Republicans, Ambdilwahedou Soumaila, demands in an interview with Figaro that the ban on slums be included at the top of the emergency law, before addressing the question of reconstruction.

Fifteen days after the devastation of Cyclone Chido which has so far left 39 dead and more than 4,460 injured (including 124 serious), Ambdilwahedou Soumaila spoke to Le Figaro before the visit of Prime Minister François Bayrou, now expected on Monday on the archipelago accompanied by several ministers including Élisabeth Borne (Education), Manuel Valls (Overseas), Valérie Létard (Housing), Yannick Neuder (Health) and Thani Mohamed Soilihi (Francophonie and International Partnerships).

AMBDILWAHEDOU SOUMAILA.- It's always complicated. Beyond the problems of lack of water and electricity, we are faced with the accumulation of waste. Almost 90% of the municipal territory being affected, this requires major clearing work. Families overwhelmed by household waste ask us to intervene but we have difficulty collecting it.
