As is the annual tradition, a spectacular fireworks show is planned in Antwerp on New Year’s Eve. At the stroke of midnight, the fireworks will be fired over the Scheldt, which can be admired from the Scheldt quays on ‘t Zuid and at the Galgenweel on the Left Bank.
Fireworks maker Cliff Hooge and his team have once again created a spectacular fireworks show this year to celebrate the new year. For fifteen minutes, hundreds of arrows will shoot into the light, with a matching soundtrack.
On the right bank, spectators can visit the Scheldt quays near the Sint-Michielskaai and the Cockerillkaai. This is the ideal place to admire the fireworks and listen to the music. On the other side of the Scheldt, Galgenweel offers a beautiful and quieter view of the fireworks, with the Antwerp skyline as a backdrop.
Radio Minerva a VRT1
The fireworks soundtrack can be listened to live on Radio Minerva (98.0 FM). The fireworks will also be broadcast live on VRT1 from 11:59 p.m., immediately after the program Peace on Earth.
Visitors can easily reach the Scheldt quays on foot from the center of Antwerp. Signage is provided and guides show the way to Scheldt Quays South. The city recommends arriving on foot, bicycle or public transportation. A large part of the Scheldt quays will be made car-free and a temporary parking ban will apply.

Forbidden
The city emphasizes that the use of fireworks is further prohibited throughout Antwerp, as are lighting firecrackers, making fires and releasing wish balloons. It is also prohibited to have fireworks in your pocket until January 31. The police will confiscate fireworks and offenders risk a GAS fine and additional costs for safely collecting, storing and destroying the fireworks.
