The Squid Game Season two’s finale has left furious and hanging and not everyone is pleased. After a record-breaking debut over two years ago, the South Korean horror drama became Netflix’s most-watched show, so it was no shocker when a second season was greenlit.When the much-anticipated season of Squid Game came out on Thursday on Netflix after years of waiting- fans couldn’t help but have high expectations.

Yet, just a few hours after its release, viewers flooded X with disappointed comments – complaining they ‘didn’t wait three years for this’. Fans unanimously branded it ‘boring’ and ‘predictable’ – while also moaning it lacked the show’s trademark nail-biting plot, reported Daily Mail.

Fans call Squid Game season 2 ‘boring’

The second season of Squid Games premiered on December 26 on Netflix. Despite the long wait for its return, Netflix subscribers were over the moon to hear that Squid Game season two would drop on Boxing Day, December 26, perfect for holiday binge-watching. However, the latest season, which is two episodes shorter than the first, didn’t quite hit the mark for all viewers with its seventh and final episode.

In a dramatic conclusion, after a violent clash in the dorms, the Front Man confronts Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae) and his old friend Jung-bae (Leo Seo-hwan), chillingly saying: “Look closely at the consequences of your little hero game”, and then executes Jung-bae.

Gi-hun is shoved to the ground by guards as the Front Man departs, leaving him to cry out for Jung-bae as the screen goes dark, ending the episode abruptly.

This cliffhanger ending sent many fans to social media to vent their shock and letdown.

The first trailer for Squid Game’s long-awaited second season first dropped back in October. The trailer began with a new set of players being recruited for the twisted game before the winner of the last Squid Game, Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, appeared on screen.

Despite the backlash, Netflix has confirmed a third and final season for Squid Game, although fans will have to sit tight as the return date remains a mystery, with officials teasing a 2025 comeback.
