A rare event in one of the most visited monuments in the capital. The Eiffel Tower had to be evacuated on Tuesday, December 24 when at 10:50 a.m. the fire alarm went off.
According to the Eiffel Tower Operating Company (SETE), “a short circuit on a power rail of an elevator between the 2nd floor and the top” took place, which triggered the alarm.
The Eiffel Tower was immediately evacuated and firefighters intervened. “The SETE as well as its service providers in charge of electrical maintenance and its elevator manufacturer are now carrying out investigations to identify the origin of this incident”continues the company.
According to the SETE, the Eiffel Tower will reopen its doors “gradually today”but only up to the 2nd floor.
