Two people died this Saturday, December 21 evening in a traffic accident. The events occurred around 10:30 p.m. on the A709 in the Nîmes – Montpellier direction, near the town of Baillargues.
The police from the Poussan motorway platoon were carrying out speed checks when they saw a motorcycle passing at high speed: 139 km/h, in a zone limited to 90 km/h. They then went after the two-wheeler in order to fine her.
As they approached, according to the first elements of the investigation, they hit the motorcycle. Both the driver and the passenger of the two-wheeler died.
The driver of the gendarmerie vehicle will be heard this Sunday afternoon. He also had blood samples taken, the results of which will be known at the end of the day.
The second gendarme, a passenger in the car, was interviewed this Sunday morning, as well as witnesses to the accident.
Alongside this collision, an accident took place, involving around five vehicles. Several people were slightly injured.
