Created and hosted for fourteen seasons by François Busnel, the show is now hosted by Augustin Trapenard, who knew how to infuse his sensitivity and energy into this emblematic event.
An evening in tribute to a great woman of letters
The Great Bookstore stands out for its format: a set of guests discussing current literary events. Authors, philosophers, essayists and other intellectuals debate, read extracts and share their vision of the world. This Wednesday, December 18, 2024, The Great Bookstore offers a special program dedicated to Françoise Sagan, an essential figure in French literature. This tribute is organized on the occasion of twenty years since his death (1935-2004) and seventy years since the publication of his first novel, Hello sadness (1954), which made her an icon at just 18 years old.
Literaries, admirers and family members united
To mark this evening, Augustin Trapenard will welcome seven personalities who have come to celebrate the memory of François Sagan and the impact of his work: Anne Berest, novelist and screenwriter, for her work Sagan 1954, which traces the genesis of the writing of Hello sadness. Also on set, Olivia de Lamberterie, journalist and literary critic, known for With all my sympathieswhere she also discusses her relationship with literature.
The family of François Sagan will also be there with Denis Westhoff, his son, phorographer and author of the biography The Sagan Years 1954-1985.
