Finally, a widespread moderate snow will affect the area. It will look and feel more like the Christmas season for a few days. By the time we reach Christmas Day, it will be turning mild once again.

Because of the impending snow, a WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for today and tonight for Taylor, Clark, Jackson, Marathon, Wood, Portage, Waushara, Waupaca, Shawano, and Menominee counties. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for the rest of the viewing area for today and tonight. In the warning area, 3 to 6 inches of snow is likely. In the advisory area, snow amounts will likely be more in the 2 to 3 inch range. The snow will begin in earnest around mid-morning and not completely taper off until tonight. Skies will remain cloudy and highs will be in the low to mid 20s. It will be a little breezy as well with southeasterly winds at 10 to 18 mph.
The clouds should break up on Friday and it looks dry through the weekend. Saturday will be a bit more cloudy during the afternoon and Sunday should have a mix of sun and clouds. It will be a little chilly with highs in the low to mid 20s on Friday and Sunday. Saturday will be the coldest day with highs in the mid to upper teens.
A mild trend will develop next week. Highs will be back up to around 30 on Monday, in the low to mid 30s on Tuesday, and in the mid 30s on Wednesday (Christmas). Skies will be mostly cloudy next week and there might be a little travel trouble on Monday when a bit of light snow will move through. Right now, it looks like there might be a small accumulation. Tuesday and Wednesday should be dry.
