The Super League teams are moving even closer together. After FC Lugano’s home defeat and the victories of FC St.Gallen and champions YB, only eight points separate the first place from ninth place.

Lugano – Lausanne 1:4
Lugano goes into the winter break as leader. But the people of Ticino cannot be satisfied after the 1:4 against Lausanne-Sport, their first home defeat in four months. They couldn’t hide the fact that they already have over 30 games under their belt. Lausanne-Sport was more determined and determined.
Thanks to Alvyn Sanches, the Vaudois were quickly rewarded for their good attitude. The 21-year-old showed all his class and light-footedness before making it 1-0 in the 10th minute. With a dribble that resembled a dance, he created space on the edge of the penalty area for a shot into the far upper corner of the goal by Lugano goalie Amir Saipi. A dream goal that will increase interest in Sanches from abroad.
Noë Dussenne celebrates his goal to make it 3-1.Bild: keystone
The other Lausanne goals came after penalties. Alban Hajdari owed the first two with impetuous actions. The Belgian veteran Noë Dussenne scored safely both times, and the second goal to make it 3-1 meant the decision. Kaly Sène, who scored another penalty at the second attempt to make it 4-1, ensured the final result was a happy one from Luganesi’s point of view. On the first attempt, which was parried by Saipi, Lugano players ran into the penalty area too early. That matched the overall disappointing performance of the hosts.
The Ticino team didn’t manage to cause problems for Lausanne for a long period of time, but they were at least able to put a pinprick. Kacper Przybylko used one in the 68th minute to make it 1-2. With further opportunities, the hosts failed due to goalie Karol Letica, another top performer in the in-form Lausanne team. The Croatian won duels with Renato Steffen before and with Daniel Dos Santos after the break and thus played his part in Ludovic Magnin’s team going into the Christmas holidays just one point behind Lugano.

YB – Servette 2:1
The Young Boys showed morale in the last game before the winter break and ended the weak first half of the year with a 2-1 home win against Servette.

It has been difficult days for the Young Boys since the tragedy involving Meschack Elia’s son. Football faded into the background, even before kick-off in Wankdorf. The deceased four-year-old was remembered with a minute’s silence after the Servette players all entered the stadium wearing Elia’s number 15 jersey.
So the people of Bern were perhaps not quite in the mood for football, the list of absences was long and their energy reserves have already been used up after the long, hectic last few months.
YB’s reaction to the false start to the game after the early 0-1 was all the more remarkable. Darian Males was in the right place twice, after a cross from Cedric Itten in the 37th minute and after a corner just seconds after the break. “The team believed in itself despite the deficit,” said Males on “Blue”.
Geneva bear market before Christmas
There wasn’t enough from Servette after the 1-0 lead in the 6th minute. Dereck Kutesa’s dribbling, followed by the low shot for the Swiss international’s eleventh goal of the season, was for a long time a very lonely highlight in the Geneva game, who had to do without the injured Alexis Antunes as well as the suspended Timothé Cognat. The big opportunity for a second goal came in the 83rd minute when Jérémy Guillemenot hit the post.
With only one win from the last seven games, the Geneva team have somewhat carelessly missed out on a better starting position for the second part of the season in recent weeks. The lead over YB is only six points. For the people of Bern, these are interesting prospects for next year. It remains to be seen whether Joël Magnin will still be the coach.
