Mathilde Panot still believes in the alliance of the New Popular Front. While the left-wing coalition is divided, disagreeing in particular on the dismissal of Emmanuel Macron and the participation in the consultations of François Bayrou, Insoumise believes that it will come together to overthrow the government, again. Guest of BFMTV/RMC this Thursday, December 19, Mathilde Panot indicated that her group will table a motion of censure, in the event that the Prime Minister does not seek a vote of confidence in the National Assembly, on January 14, after his declaration of general policy.

“I believe that the entire New Popular Front will be involved in the vote on the motion of censure,” she then said. A vote which will indicate, according to her, “who is in the opposition and who supports this government”, even if she “believes” in the union of the four components of the New Popular Front (PS, PCF, Ecologists and LFI). “I think, then it will be up to them to decide,” she repeated.

At the same time, the Ecologists and the Socialist Party announced that they would go to Matignon this Thursday afternoon, where they were invited by the Prime Minister. A meeting described as a “chimera” by Mathilde Panot.

The New Popular Front will then have to be “called to power” due to the results of the early legislative elections. “Then we will compromise,” she insisted.

On M6, at the end of last week, the leader of the radical left movement Jean-Luc Mélenchon also said he was “in favor of extending” the left alliance of the New Popular Front, despite a “divergence” with the socialists, who do not demand, like LFI, the departure of Emmanuel Macron.

“From time to time, there are dishes that are broken. I regret it. But if the New Popular Front was broken, that means that we are giving Mr. Macron and the National Rally a free hand,” he argued.
