Martin Uldal: “It’s wonderful to participate in the biathlon world cup” – Sports Infos – Ski

Will Martin Uldal settle into the World Cup?

1000 days after making his debut on the circuit, as a multi-world junior medalist, Martin Uldal, 23, received a new opportunity last week.

Brilliant on the IBU Cup circuit, Martin Uldal took the place of Johannes Dale and even managed something never seen before, pushing Tarjei Boe onto the substitutes’ bench, for the Grand Bornand stage.

7th and 5th in Hochfilzen, as fast on skis as rifle in hand, Martin Uldal impressed.

“It’s wonderful to take part in the World Cup, because here we experience a different atmosphere. It’s even more true to be at the flower ceremony” he indicated just after the pursuit of Hochfilzen.

After his excellent performances in Austria, Martin Uldal thought he would return to the IBU Cup circuit, as he explained, before learning of his call-up to Grand Bornand, at FondoItalia.

“I don’t think I’ll stay in the World Cup, maybe I have a 20% chance. It’s really cruel and obviously I’m not happy about it.

I think too much value is placed on a top 15 in the World Cup compared to a victory in the IBU Cup, which deserves more consideration, but that’s just my opinion, probably conditioned by my situation.

It’s hard. I should take the place of an athlete with a big name, people who have a lot of power and who are difficult to exclude from the team.

I think this World Cup call-up was only for this week. I will probably go to Obertilliach.”
