we explain the new features of the platform to be more transparent with students

Six years after its opening, Parcoursup continues its transformation, displaying an effort at transparency. The platform, criticized since its beginnings for its opacity, is implementing several new features this year with the aim of better informing candidates and limiting their anxieties. They will now find a training “identity card”, an overview of their chances of access and information on professional opportunities. The calendar was also advanced compared to last year. On the occasion of the opening of the portal, Wednesday December 18, franceinfo explains the main changes. Wishes among the 24,000 training courses offered can only be made from January 15 and until March 13.

An “identity card” to take stock of the courses

Candidates now have access to an “identity card” which lists the essential information relating to each training course. Each lists the status of the establishment (public, private under contract or private without contract), the selective nature or not of the sector, the number of places available, whether or not it holds the “Ministry of Higher Education” label, and scholarship eligibility. Until now, these elements were present on Parcoursup, but scattered in different tabs. The “identity card” therefore allows you to have an overview of any course.

A welcome clarity at a time when private training, which is booming, is not always synonymous with quality. On November 19, the resigning minister Patrick Hetzel announced the continuation of the work of his teams to bring about, at the start of the 2026 school year, a specific label for private education. “The State must clean up”he insisted.

In addition to this “identity card”, families have a practical booklet which offers “simple advice to help high school students and their parents better understand the training offerings, and to ask themselves the right questions before choosing”explains the Ministry of Higher Education in a press release.

A section to assess your chances of access

In addition to the traditional section which details the criteria for analyzing applications for each course, candidates have, for the first time, the possibility of estimating their real chances of being selected. All they need to do is provide their general average and their pair of specialties chosen for the baccalaureate. The simulator then returns to a “observation” : over the last three years, depending on the profile of the high school student, the training sends “rarely”, “occasionally”, “regularly”, “more than 50%” or “more than 80%” an admission proposal.

Added to this is a tab detailing the profile of final year high school students who have chosen to join the training. There we find statistics on the most common general averages, as well as specialty pairs ranked from the most common to the least common.

All of this information “will reinforce the transparency of the admission process and help candidates in their reflection on the choice of wishes”estimates the ministry.

Statistics to know the opportunities

New statistics on professional integration and further studies are also available. “Previously limited to BTS and professional licenses, the data is extended to general licenses, agricultural BTS, engineering, business and management schools”, i.e. 75% of the training offered, notes the ministry. Clearly, for a given training course, the candidate knows whether many students, once they have completed their diploma, will find work, continue their studies, or pursue another path.

By the end of January, information “concerning the hiring conditions produced by the ministerial statistical services will be integrated into Parcoursup”also announces the ministry. This will specifically involve providing candidates with data on “the net indicative salary/month observed nationally one year after leaving studies”.

A suitable schedule so as not to encroach on the bin

Finally, “the calendar for the 2025 session has been redesigned to reduce waiting and uncertainty”. After discovering the new training offer from Wednesday, candidates will be able to register on the platform “and express their wishes from January 15”. The main admission phase will begin on June 2 and the classification of pending wishes will take place between June 6 and 10 so that a “maximum number of high school students can receive at least one admission offer before the written baccalaureate exams”justifies the ministry. The baccalaureate exams last this year from June 16 to July 2 at the latest.

Last year, many final year students had difficulty remaining focused on obtaining their diploma, while their wishes were still pending on Parcoursup.
