Home Alone’s Marv is no longer robbing houses.
Anyone who has seen the festive favorite knows that the first movie is based on Kevin McCallister (Macauley Culkin), who is accidentally left at home by his family who have gone on vacation for the holidays.
While he’s left alone, two robbers, Marv Murchins (Daniel Stern) and Harry Lime (Joe Pesci), who also go by the Wet Bandits, attempt to break into the McCallister’s multimillion dollar mansion.
Of course, eight-year-old Kevin had other plans for them though, and gets up to all kinds of shenanigans in a bid to stop them breaking in.
The first Home Alone movie was released in 1990, and Stern has since had quite the career change.
Stern has ditched his (fictitious) life of crime and now lives on a farm where he works as a cattle rancher and sculptor. Quite the plot twist, right?
In a bio on his website, Stern wrote: “When I was a kid, I was a terrible student but I excelled in all things artistic – theater, choir, band, woodshed, metal shop, ceramics, and sculpture.
“I dropped out of high school when I was seventeen and moved to New York to become an actor. I got married and was a father by the time I was 23, and obviously had to just focus on my show business career.”
Daniel Stern is best known for playing Merv in Home Alone (20th Century Studios)
He continued to pen: “I did a lot of great movies but there came a point where I missed being away from my family. I decided to stop traveling so much, stay home and focus on my family and my other artistic passions.
”The result of that decision is that I have a wonderful family life and this body of work.”
Stern documents some of his new life on social media. On his TikTok he boasts 88,000 followers, while the former actor has almost 25,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Many people make Home Alone references in the comment section of his posts.
One person wrote on one of Stern’s recent TikToks: “Nice place Marv!”
“Hey Marv. You’re the best,” wrote another.
Gushing over his work in Christmas classic films, someone else said: “Mr.Stern.. let me just say you have given me such good holiday memories and I continue it with children of the amazing Marv.”
Stern replied to the comment himself thanking the Home Alone fan for their sentiments.
“And thank you also for been a lover of my work if not for the loves I wouldn’t have been here,” he said.
