Talina Gantenbein finished the Ski Cross World Cup in Arosa in 5th place. The 26-year-old from Grisons prevailed in the small final against Canadian Abby McEwan. However, the podium was dominated by the Canadians, who claimed all three places. Marielle Thompson won ahead of India Sherret and Hannah Schmidt.
Fanny Smith and Saskja Lack, the two other Swiss women, collided in the semi-final shortly after the start and were both eliminated. Lack then had to be brought to the finish by the rescue sleigh.
In the men’s category, Ryan Regez was the best Swiss in sixth place. The 31-year-old achieved his personal best ranking since he tore his cruciate ligament two years ago, which he sustained in Arosa. Alex Fiva was eliminated in the quarterfinals. The other Swiss team of Tobias Baur, Noah Lubasch and Marc Bischofsbrerger were already stuck in the round of 16.
Another athlete from Canada, Reece Howden, won. The Italian Simone Deromedis came second and David Mobärg from Sweden came third. (puff)
