Traveling to Lyon, the President of the Republic indicated that he would go to Mayotte “in a few hours” to be alongside the people of Mahor who are “living the worst” since the devastating cyclone Chido. He is expected Thursday morning in Mayotte after a short stopover in Reunion.
Traveling to Lyon on Tuesday, December 17 to inaugurate an academy of the World Health Organization, the President of the Republic announced that he would “alongside” of the Mahorais “in a few hours” indicates the website of the newspaper Le Parisien.
Adding that “our compatriots are going through the worst”he also welcomed “the responsiveness of all state services and territorial forces.”
Emmanuel Macron also stressed that the government “deployed a lot of resources on site”evoking in passing “excellent coordination” of the Ministry of Health with the WHO services in Mayotte at the level of “prevention in terms of infectious diseases, tests and diagnostics, and psychological support.”
Originally announced in “a few days”the arrival of the Head of State in the department of Mayotte ravaged by Cyclone Chido has therefore visibly been brought forward, in the midst of controversy over the absence of the Prime Minister just named François Bayrou.
Monday evening, Emmanuel Maron published a post on X (formerly Twitter) stating: “I will go to Mayotte (…) in support of our fellow citizens, the civil servants and the mobilized relief forces. It is a question of dealing with emergencies and starting to prepare for the future.”
According to our information, the president is expected to take a flight during the day on Wednesday, to arrive there on Thursday morning after a short stopover in Reunion.
